Brakes are very important with the winter snow. Ice and sleet can make you lose control of your car easily. Make sure that your brakes are not too difficult to use. If it takes a lot of pressure to stop or you can hear squeaking when you brake, you should take your vehicle in for a checkup.
Tires can lose air easily in the cold temperatures. Make sure they are filled, have no holes, and have enough treads to get you where you are going safely. Snow tires are a good idea as well. Take your vehicle in for a tire rotation if it has been six months since your last rotation as well.
When it comes to brake fluids, transmission fluids, or windshield wiper fluids, you will need all three to combat the rough weather this winter. Make sure to fill up your wiper fluid with the kind specifically for winter and make sure your other fluids are in working order on your next visit to the mechanic.
